The Bedford College Group (TBCG) is seeking individuals with diverse skills and backgrounds in business or organisational settings to become members of the Corporation Board (Governors), External Members of our Quality and Curriculum Groups, plus Non-Executive Directors of our subsidiaries Bedford College Services Ltd and Bedford College Professional Services Ltd. The Corporation serves as the governing body of TBCG and is entrusted with the task of steering and overseeing the Group's strategic trajectory.
Governors with TBCG will:
- Determine and periodically review the educational character and mission of TBCG.
- Oversee the activities of TBCG.
- Approve the quality strategy for educational provision.
- Ensure the effective and efficient use of resources, solvency and safeguarding of assets.
- Approve annual estimates of income and expenditure.
- Appoint, grade, suspend, dismiss and determine the pay of senior post holders, including the Director of Governance.
- Set a framework for the pay and conditions of service of all other college staff.
Meanwhile External Committee Members will:
- Support fulfilment of the relevant terms of reference and monitoring the performance and achievement of the strategic objectives to ensure delivery of TBCG’s strategic plan.
- Actively prepare for and participate in committee meetings.
With Non-Executive Directors:
- Promoting the long-term sustainable success of our subsidiaries bringing value to the Group
- Acting with integrity
- Ensuring that the necessary resources are in place for subsidiaries to meet their objectives
- Establishing a framework of prudent and effective controls, enabling risk to be assessed and managed
- Ensuring effective engagement with, and encouraging participation from the College and other stakeholders
What skills and experience will you have:
- A strong understanding of education and/or business.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to operate independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to excellence and continuous improvement
We currently have increased need for skills and experience from the fields of Digital Transformation, Further Education and Finance/Risk Management.
